Reading a sneaker listing properly
Listings reuse the same studio images across dozens of shops, so the photos tell you very little about the pair you will actually receive. Read the title for the colourway code, scroll to the size table for the insole length in centimetres, and check the seller's recent transaction history for the model. A price far below everyone else selling the same shoe usually means a different batch, not a bargain.
Substitution: the most common complaint
Substitution happens when a seller ships a different colourway or a different batch than the one you ordered, and it is far more common with footwear than any other category. Protect yourself by writing the exact colourway code into the order remarks and by checking the size tag against that code in the QC photos. It takes thirty seconds and it is the single most effective habit in this category.
When to walk away from a listing
Walk away when the seller cannot produce a photo of the actual pair, when the price is dramatically below every comparable listing, when the size chart is missing entirely, or when the shop has no meaningful transaction history for that model. Any one of these alone is a warning; two together means you are almost certainly buying a problem you will spend weeks trying to resolve.
